Summer Camp Director 2024 - Job Description 

The Camp Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of camp and acts as the liaison between the Board of Directors and the summer camping program; The Summer Camp Director will; 

• assist in the coordination of staff and volunteers; 

• oversee program planning, sessions, activities, 

• oversee all staff and camper physical and mental welfare.

• ensure that safety measures, procedures, and policies are followed; 

• assist in the presentation of staff training times; 

• designate cabin assignments for staff and campers 

• will attend Board meetings and prepare reports as requested/needed by the Board of Directors. 

• be familiar with camp emergency procedures, will respect and comply with all camp policies and procedures and will ensure that regular practices are completed by staff for emergency procedures. 

• be responsible for the supervision and discipline of all staff and campers. 

• be an enthusiastic participant in camp activities -- leading campers by example. 

The Camp Director is directly responsible, via a designated Board Liaison, to the Board of Camp Mackinicholea. All staff who work at a camp enjoy working with children and youth ages 6-17. Staff are enthusiastic and excited facilitators of a safe and fun summer camp for all participants. 

This position is deemed to be a level 1 risk assessment with a high level of responsibility and authority for the safety and wellbeing of campers. 

Qualifications: 

-- Standard First Aid certification 

-- Current Level 2 police check -- Social Services Intervention Check 

-- will be available for all camps and training sessions


Camp Cook

The Camp Cook will:

* Plan and implement nutritional meals following Canada’s Food guide for camps as large as approximately 75 persons.

*  Consult with the Summer Camp Director and the First Aid Provider to be familiar with any allergies or dietary needs that must be accommodated for at each camp.

*  Work with the camp food purchaser re: the ordering of groceries and kitchen supplies.

*  Prepare all meals and snacks each day following the schedule determined by the Director.

*  Prepare and clean the kitchen for camp and clean out the kitchen after camp has ended.

*  Ensure that the kitchen area and equipment are kept in a clean and orderly manner while maintaining provincial health standards.

*  In consultation with the Program Coordinator, provide supervised programs for campers in the kitchen.

*  Be responsible to work cooperatively with the other cook.

*  Be familiar with camp emergency procedures, will respect and comply with all camp

policies and procedures.

The Camp Cook is directly responsible to the Summer Camp Director.

All staff who work at a camp enjoy working with children and youth ages 6-17. Staff are enthusiastic and excited facilitators of a safe and fun summer camp for all participants. All camp staff and campers remain at the camp site during camp, unless permission to leave is granted by the Summer Camp Director, except for regularly scheduled days off. All leadership team members are available to help each other as needed.

All staff promote a community, based on the belief, in which we are all treated with respect to make each camp experience a unique and fulfilling one for all participants. This position is deemed to be a level 3A risk assessment with a high level of responsibility and authority for the safety and well-being of campers.

Camp Counsellor Generalist

The Camp Counsellor Generalist will be responsible to the Camp Director for duties as required, giving him/her an all-around experience of camp positions. These duties may change as per the direction of the Camp Director and may include duties alongside the Lifeguard, Camp Cook or other positions at Camp, rather than the Camp Counsellor at all times. Duties will be specified at the time of assignment.

Camp Counsellors are responsible for cabin groups of 6-10 campers. Cabin Counsellors will

*  Be familiar with health concerns and medication needs of their campers.

*  Be responsible for the mental and physical welfare of the campers.

*  Accompany campers to activities.

*  Ensure that campers are punctual for all activities.

*  Being familiar with camp emergency procedures, respecting and complying with all camp policies and procedures.

*  Be an enthusiastic participant in camp activities - leading campers by example.

Other tasks may include but not limited to:

*  Taking part in the registration process for each camp.

*  Welcoming campers.

*  Camp orientation for campers.

*  Daily chore assignments.

*  Assisting Program Counsellors with the implementation of activities.

*  Serving meals.

*  Cleaning cabins.

Cabin Counsellors are directly responsible to the Summer Camp Director. All staff who work at camp enjoy working with children and youth ages 6-17 and being part of the leadership team. Staff are enthusiastic and excited facilitators of a safe and fun summer camp for all participants.

All camp staff and campers remain at the camp site during camp except for regular days off. All leadership team members are available to help each other as needed. 

All staff will work in an environment where we are all treated with respect to make each camp experience a unique and fulfilling one for all participants. This position is deemed to be a level 2 risk assessment with a high level of responsibility and authoritity for the safety and well-being of campers.

Qualifications - must be the age of majority on the first day of camp.

Waterfront/Lifeguard (1 male, 1 female)

Camp Mackinicholea is accepting applications for a camp Lifeguard. Camp Mack is located on Long Island Lake north of Westlock and the position covers June 24, 2024 to August 5, 2024 inclusive for children who will var from 6 to 17 years of age. The Lifeguard will act as a camp counsellor when children are not engaged in activities in the lake, and will be part of the leadership team who will work 6 days per week. He/she will report directly to the Camp Director and his duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

*  The organization and safety of swimming and canoeing programs as well as for the waterfront area and equipment.

*  Actively teach and implement the canoe program which is an integral component to the Camp program.

*  Ensuring that all procedures, practices and policies are being adhered to while all waterfront activities are taking place.

*  Being familiar with camp emergency procedures, respecting and complying with all camp policies and procedures.

*  Be an enthusiastic participant in camp activities - leading campers by example.

Camp Mackinicholea is recruiting several camp counsellors for the youth camp at Long Island Lake for children aged 6-17 years from June 24, 2024 to August 5, 2024. The camp is situated on beautiful Long Island Lake north of Westlock.
